Eating with the seasons, it just sounds romantic, doesn’t it?
We love the inspiration that led to the creation of The British Larder: A Cookbook For All Seasons. Co-founder Madalene Bonvini-Hamel explains, “The cookbook was inspired by the way I was brought up; enjoying food, as nature intended, when in season.”
Whether it’s spring, summer, autumn or winter, there is always an abundance of fresh produce waiting in the wings ready to delight consumers. Over the past few years, people have become increasingly aware of the impact that their food choices have on both the environment and their health. This has prompted a great rise in organic veg box schemes; with people enjoying a weekly delivery of fresh, seasonal produce from their local food growers.
There are so many benefits to this: from supporting local business and reducing CO2 emissions to reconnecting with nature’s cycles, avoiding paying a premium on far-travelled food and eating fresh food that is more nutritious. What’s not to love?
Food growers are providing this fantastic service, but they could be offering more. They could be creating recipe content that helps their customers find new and inventive ways of using and enjoying seasonal produce.
In our local surrounding area, we’re fortunate enough to be surrounded by a wonderful array of fresh food producers: from Tangmere Airfield Nurseries and Barfoots, to Stansted Park Farm Shop and Goodwood Home Farm…I know, spoilt for choice.
So, how can food manufacturers promote their fresh produce in an incredibly effective, useful and engaging way? Seasonal recipes!
Here’s an example from The British Larder of how fresh, seasonal and locally sourced bell peppers can be lovingly turned into a fabulous Grilled Yellow Pepper Soup!
Why not try creating your own seasonal recipe to celebrate the fresh produce that defines your brand? It’s an incredibly effective method of building engaging content, raising brand awareness and promoting the fresh seasonal produce that you love!
It’s important that when you create your recipes, essential elements are considered and implemented to ensure that they rank well in search engines and are as useful as possible to users.
There’s a knack to getting this right, and happily we’ve already created a free step-by-step recipe writing guide that will help you showcase your fresh produce! (You’re welcome.)
