How to update Google My Business

Is your business going to be operating differently through the COVID-19 pandemic? Then it’s important to let customers know.

If your shop or office is closed then you need to let people know before they travel to you, no one wants a wasted journey at the best of times, but this is more critical at this time when we are trying to avoid non-essential trips.

It’s easy to avoid a wasted journey by updating your information on Google My Business, simply follow our 3-step guide:

1) Update your opening times

  1. Sign in to Google My Business and select the location you’d like to manage.
  2. Click Info from the menu
  3. Next to “Add hours” or your current business hours, click Hours Hours
  4. Turn on each day of the week that your business is open
  5. Next to each day of the week that your business is open, click Opens at, and then select the opening time
  6. Next to each day of the week that your business is open, click Closes at, and then select the closing time
  7. After you’re done setting your hours, click Apply

2) Update your description

You can update your business description that shows at the top of your listing.  This will explain what steps you’re taking and how your business operations are changing. Remember to add these details to the top of the description.

3) Update your phone number

If you’re working from home and can’t get to your business, then you may need to temporarily update your business contact number or set up a divert so customers can still reach you.
